Popular Philadelphia Indian spot Amma’s South Indian Cuisine could be expanding to Bucks County writes Jeff Werner for The Patch.

The 72-seat restaurant honoring centuries-old South Indian cuisine will soon call Newtown home. The owners are seeking conditional use approval from the township’s board of supervisors to open the new location at the former Zoës Kitchen.

If given the green light by the board, Amma’s will soon be on the road to opening its first location in Bucks County.

Amma’s is sprinkled across the Philadelphia region. Owner Sathish Varadhan opened the first location in Voorhees, New Jersey in 2010 after immigrating to the United States.

The chefs use generationally passed down recipes with all-natural ingredients, reminiscent of family home-cooked style meals.
