A Yardley resident is filing an appeal against a new athletic field at Abrams Hebrew Academy, writes Peg Quann for the Bucks County Courier Times.

A new zoning decision gave the school the go-ahead to construct the facility that includes bleachers and a track. The variances granted also allow the field to be built on the adjacent industrial property without a buffer zone required.

Earl Markey, whose home is across the street from Abrams Hebrew Academy, is concerned that the athletic field will require more parking for nearby residents.

He also says that the field should be constructed solely on the academy’s property.

The zoning appeal argues that the academy has a 30-year lease of the one-third acre section of the industrial property specifically for the project.

Abrams’ director Rabbi Ira Budow says that the school has enough parking along with permission to use the industrial property’s parking lot from its owner ML-7 Yardley Partners.

He argues that the project will be beneficial to the neighborhood due to its drainage improvements.

While the future of the athletic field may be murky, Joseph Carracappa, a solicitor for the zoners, says he’s confident that the board’s decision will be affirmed.
