Officials in Falls township are launching the Falls Cares Program to address the root cause and revitalize blighted properties.

Officials in Falls township are launching the Falls Cares Program to address blighted properties, according to The Reporter.

Township Manager Matthew Takita would work with the code enforcement department to ensure inspectors issue violation notices.

A police co-responder will also work to address the “human” side of blight issues such as hoarding.

The co-responder would work with property owners to address the underlying cause of the blight and connect them with resources such as junk removal services and landscapers depending on the source of the issue.

Officials say that the program aims to improve the quality of life for residents by helping people who are struggling with property upkeep and instilling a sense of pride within the township.

The program is expected to evolve over the course of the next year as it must adapt to each situation.
