Doylestown Township voted to approve a zoning change that allows for the construction of an affordable 60-unit mixed-use development for seniors and veterans, writes Kevin Riordan for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

This allows the developer, Arcadia Land Co. to apply for federal-low-income housing tax credit to fund the project.

The $30 million project includes 18 townhouses for residents of all ages, with three apartments designated for working seniors, and a separate building with 60 units for seniors who aren’t working.

The development site, on North Broad Street, is located within the boundaries of the borough, across four acres.

A revised version of the plan calls for a half-acre space to be used as a public dog park for the whole community.
