Following an extremely successful first season, a popular ice cream and water ice shop in Newtown is closing for the season.

The Newtown Ice House, which opened back in the spring, held its last day of business for the season on Oct. 1. Having become a popular spot in Newtown, the business’ first season was a massive success, with customers consistently lining up to try their treats.

The business offers several flavors of soft-serve ice cream, including vanilla, chocolate, pumpkin, and dole whip, along with a wide variety of flavors of gourmet water ice. Some of their options include Banana Cream Pie, Peach Cobbler, Cinnamon Bun, Apple Pie, and Mint Chocolate Chip, to name a few.

The shop is a nearby addition to the popular Yardley Ice House, located at 77 South Main Street in Yardley, which has also closed for the season. The original location was opened in 1994 by Susan and John Bissert.

“They crafted gourmet water ice in their small store that offered original flavors made with the best ingredients,” the business’ website reads. “Other water ice stores in the area only served standard flavors that were typically manufactured elsewhere and bought in bulk.”
