The New Orleans group will perform at a local venue in September.

An influential heavy metal act will be coming to Bucks County in the near future, playing songs that fans have loved for decades.

Broken Goblet Brewing, located at 2500 State Road in Bensalem, will be hosting New Orleans metal legends Crowbar on Sept. 17 at 6 PM. The group will be supported by opening acts Primitive Man, Bodybox, and Empyre Rock Club.

Crowbar was formed in 1990 by frontman Kirk Windstein, who sings and plays rhythm guitar for the group. The Louisiana band has been an influential figure in the subgenre of sludge metal, a form of heavy metal that incorporates the sounds and styles of hardcore punk and doom metal.

Outside of Crowbar, Windstein is also a member of Down, a supergroup made of several figures from the New Orleans metal scene. Other members include vocalist Phil Anselmo of Pantera, guitarist Pepper Keenan of Corrosion of Conformity, and bassist Pat Bruders of Goatwhore. Pantera bassist Rex Brown previously played bass in the group as well.
