Commuters to and from the city have a variety of transportation options.

After a fire caused part of I-95 to collapse in Philadelphia, Bucks County commuters are now left finding new ways of getting to work.

On Sunday, a truck caught fire underneath the highway between Exits 30 and 32 in Philadelphia. This caused a partial collapse of the northbound lane, as well as damage to the southbound lane, making the area unsafe for transportation.

Being the main means of commuting for many Bucks County residents who work in and around the city, this has caused a major travel issue.

Now, those who usually drive on the highway are looking to other means of getting into the city. SEPTA is adding capacity and service on the Trenton, West Trenton and Fox Chase Lines. Additional trains have been added to the Trenton Line as of June 12.

For those who are still driving, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has offered alternative routes to follow:

  • Southbound: Route 63 West (Woodhaven Road), U.S. 1 South, 76 East, 676 East
  • Northbound: I-676 West, I-76 West, U.S. 1 North to Route 63 East (Woodhaven Road)

“We encourage I-95 commuters from Bucks County that have the ability to telecommute to do so to keep unnecessary vehicles off the road for workers that absolutely need to be out,” said TMA Bucks.
