A nonprofit in Bucks County has named several young residents who have proven themselves to be active in their communities.

Girls Empowered, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls from elementary through high school, has announced the winners of their 2023 Girls Empowered Award. The organization sought girls who emulated their definition of empowered: possessing the knowledge, skills, confidence, and resources to stand up for oneself, make positive choices, and be in control of one’s future.

Over 30 nominations were received for girls in elementary, middle, and high school in Southeastern Pennsylvania, who are involved in local activities, school and their community, while also being positive role models.

The winners include:

  • 6th grader Sophia DuMond
  • 8th grader Evi Casey
  • 12th grader Zandi Hall

Those that received the Runners Up Award include:

  • 6th grader Eloise Sullum
  • 8th grader Chloe Thompson
  • 11th grader Julia Ravitz

Honorable mentions include:

  • 2nd grader Ava Van Why
  • 9th grader Samantha Levine
  • 12th grader Katerina Diaz

“These girls are confident, hardworking leaders with grit who are making valuable contributions to the community. They all have such potential for a bright future and are an inspiration to all who know them,” organizers said in a statement.
