The bill would help borrowers refinance their bills related to their college educations.

A politician from Bucks County is working with several colleagues to help alleviate the issues connected to the student debt crisis. John L. Micek wrote about the bill for the Pennsylvania Capital-Star.

Brian Fitzpatrick is working to advance the “Student Loan Refinancing Act,” which would allow student borrowers to refinance their loans. The introduction of this bill comes as the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to make a decision on President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan.

“The commonsense, common-ground legislation we are introducing today would give borrowers the ability to refinance their loans at lower interest rates,” Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick worked on the bill with fellow Republican Mike Turner of Ohio, along with Democrats Donald Norcross of New Jersey and Lloyd Doggett of Texas.

“I am grateful to partner with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle on the Student Loan Refinancing Act to ensure that American families and borrowers have more flexibility as they work to pay back their loans.”
