A few recent sunsets in Bucks County have been highlighted by a hazy sky and a unique sun, and one local organization knows why.

The Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association, headquartered at 411 Susquehanna Road in Ambler, recently discussed a peculiar sight in the Bucks County sky this week, as it might affect the quality of an upcoming event they have scheduled.

The group, composed of amateur astronomers, is planning an open-to-the-public “Star Watch” at Tohickon Boat Launch in Quakertown, but recent wildfires in Canada, which are connected to the recent hazy afternoon suns, may interfere with their plans.

“I will be honest and say that observing conditions will probably be marginal at best,” organizers of the event said online. “This week we have been plagued with a very thick layer of Canadian wildfire smoke and tonight will be no exception.”

Other parts of the country are currently being affected by the smoke, which made its way over the border and into America.
