A running team from Bucks County recently won big at a major sports event that runners from around the state aspire to. Kev Hunter wrote about the event for PA Prep Live.

Archbishop Wood High School girls put together their finest 4×400-meter run of the season, managing to take second place in the Philadelphia Catholic Championship at the Penn Relays.

“It’s a great experience,” said Sofia Krawczyk, one of the competitors. “I always love coming here. It’s a hard race, the 400. There are a lot of nerves… But I like it.”

Krawczyk and her teammates, Jenell Moebius, Katie Sullivan, and Gwen Hamilton, achieved a time of 4 minutes and 18.39 seconds. The team managed to overcome several tough rivals who were in front of them during the rainy but thrilling afternoon.

“It was a great experience,” said Sullivan. “It was one of the hardest races ever… All of these girls deserve to be here.”

This is an exceptional result for the Wood girls, who cane in sixth place last year with a time of 4:34.09.

The Wood boys also competed in the Philadelphia Catholic Championship, where they finished fourth with a time of 3:32.01.
