The restoration project saw several books bearing the state's founder's signature returned to their former glory.

A Bucks County government agency recently worked to see that several books connected to the state’s founder were made like new.

Dan McPhillips, the Bucks County Recorder of Deeds, recently discussed the work that the County’s Adopt-A-Book program has done to preserve priceless books. Specifically, the program worked to restore and improve several rare books that bore the signature of William Penn, the state’s founder and namesake.

The program has already seen 700 rare books and documents restored, some of them dating back to 1684. This is just one way the local government is working to preserve the deep American history the area is entrenched in.

“Individuals across the country can trace their family tree back to Bucks County,” the Recorder of Deeds said online.

“One way they do that is through our office records. While these records are all digitized, the physical books are just as important.”
