The sports broadcasting legend came back to Bucks County to talk about his new book.

A Bucks County native and sports broadcasting legend came back to his home area to discuss his new book, with his dog as the main character. Joe Mason wrote about the new book for the Northeast Times.

Mike Missanelli, known for his work with The Philadelphia Inquirer, ESPN and NBC Sports Philadelphia, recently published a children’s book that feature his Shiba Inu, Shima, as the beloved central character. “The Adventures of Shima the Shiba” tells the story of the dog’s life with Missanelli, from an undisciplined puppy to the mature dogs she is today.

As part of his promotion for his new book, Missanelli recently traveled to the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem. He read portions of his book and discussed Shima’s adventures.

“It’s funny, she’s oblivious to the whole thing, but people will love her,” said Missanelli.

“The reason I did it was because this dog is so unique, the breed, they almost look like you can see what’s in their brain. They’re always thinking, plotting in their head, it’s pretty funny.”
