One of Bucks County’s most famous animals recently came back to his home area before appearing at an important holiday event. Michele Haddon wrote about the horse for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Doylestown families came out in droves to welcome Hank the Horse, who stopped by for a hometown visit before heading to Times Square to kick off Giving Tuesday. Visitors waited patiently at Broad Commons Park for their turn to gently pet the horse and grab a quick selfie.

Hank was found neglected and starved eleven years ago by Jo Regan while she was visiting Kentucky.

“The day I met Hank, alone in a muddy pasture, was the day I became an equestrian,” she said.

Once she brought him home to Doylestown, Regan founded For Hank’s Sake, a corporation turned nonprofit that is committed to rescuing neglected and unwanted horses while also utilizing their beauty and power to inspire children.

Hank is often busy visiting libraries, schools, and various charitable events all around the country. Over the last five years, he has helped raise more than $41,000 for several organizations.

“Being able to come back to our hometown where it was started, we’ve come full circle and it feels really good,” said Regan.
