The Bucks County hospital is introducing an important program.

A Bucks County-based health system will continue with a large expansion project in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. John George wrote about the upcoming additions to their hospitals for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Grand View Health, a Sellersville-headquartered health system, is in the process of adding their largest expansion in the company’s 109 year history. A pavilion will be added to Grand View Hospital in July, a project that will cost around $190 million.

Douglas Hughes, CEO of the company, talked about the project’s timing. During the recent pandemic, the hospital saw a staffing shortage, which prompted Grand View to spend $11 million on temporary staffing agencies.

“We actually increased our revenue and increased our volumes, but unfortunately those increases haven’t overtaken our expense increases,” Hughes said.

The new pavilion will feature 52 new patient rooms, as well as an expanded emergency department that will have 28 treatment rooms and three trauma bays. It will also feature a two-level lobby filled with natural light.

This recent addition will help the hospital to remain a trusted space in the Philadelphia-area’s health care system.
