State Senator Steve Santarsiero announced that $50 million will be used to prosecute gun crimes in Pennsylvania. Jeff Werner wrote about the recent measures for the Levittown, PA Patch.

The funds will be used to improve and enhance federal, state and local law enforcement investigations involving firearms. The state’s Commission on Crime and Delinquency set up a grant program, with the funding window expected to end by the end of the month.

“This is an important win for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” said Santarsiero. “It’s an important resource that is now available to our law enforcement agencies, our district attorneys and our police that will really make a difference in reducing the amount of gun violence and crime.”

Philadelphia State Senator Vince Hughes said this is a good moment in the fight against gun violence in Pennsylvania. Bob Harvie, the chair of the Bucks County Commissioners, was also present at the announcement, which was held at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown.
