Bucks County Judge Diane Gibbosn will be retiring in early October.

A longtime Bucks County judge has announced her upcoming retirement, but she will not be leaving the bench for good. Jo Ciavaglia wrote about the judge’s plans for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Bucks County Judge Diane Gibbons will be formally retiring on Oct. 2. However, she will be moving into a new position as a senior judge in post-retirement status the following day.

Her successor is slated to be elected next year, with their new start date being in January of 2024.

Gibbons was appointed as the District Attorney of Bucks County back in 2000. She was the first female DA ever appointed in Bucks County. During her time as a judge, she oversaw multiple big cases that made headlines in the area and beyond.

When asked why she was making the switch, Gibbons said she wanted to “spend more time with her husband and family.”
