Doylestown Women’s Rugby Football Club Looking to Expand Its Teams

The rugby football club is looking to recruit more girls into the fun sport.

The Doylestown Women’s Rugby Football Team is currently looking to expand its teams for upcoming seasons. Cayden Steele wrote about the team and some of its players for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Stacy Mancuso, coach of the Doylestown Lady Dragons, says the stigma of girls play contact sports keeps many potential players from joining teams. This is something she wants to change in the Bucks County sports world.

“It usually takes a type of personality to pursue rugby,” said Mancuso. “These girls are amazing. They are strong. They have no fear, and they have confidence.”

Maddie Doyle of Pennridge High School is just one of many girls who have signed up for the sport in Bucks County. Her playing has led to several colleges looking at her for programs.

“I know everyone at the higher level wants to be there and really wants to push themselves, so I just love that type of community,” Doyle said.
