Bucks County was recently named one of 14 recipients of the PAsmart Apprenticeship Grants, which apply to work in the building and construction trades. Staff writers at All Around Bucks County wrote about the recent grants.

One of the main purposes for the grants is to expand job opportunities throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Bucks County is one of a few locations where these grants will be allocated.

As part of Governor Wolf’s PA Statewide Movement for Accountability, Readiness and Training (PAsmart) framework, the grants are being set in place to improve education and economic development throughout the state.

“Throughout history, apprenticeships have been a vital part of career education in certain fields,” said Governor Tom Wolf. “Through these important grants, we are offering more Pennsylvania workers opportunities to train for family-sustaining jobs while helping businesses develop a workforce that will strengthen our economy and the communities most in need.”

The grants are divided into the following categories of Apprentice Training for the Electrical Industry, Asbestos Workers Local Union No. 14, and the County of Bucks Department of Workforce and Economic Development, to name a few.
