Pita Chip, soon to open in Yardley, is hosting a pay-as-you-will fundraiser to fight childhood cancer.

Pita Chip, the Middle Eastern quick-serve restaurant whose locations include one on the Temple University campus, is getting ready to open its newest site — a 3,500 square foot flagship location in Yardley. It is set to open this spring.

In preparation — and to give neighbors a taste of fast-casual restaurant’s menu — Pita Chip Co-founder Omar Alsaadi is hosting a food truck pop-up on March 4.

The truck will be dishing dishes in front of the restaurant’s new space at 1623 Big Oak Road in Yardley.

The service, which begins at noon and goes until 2 p.m. (or while supplies last), will feature falafel and chicken shawarma pita wraps.

Customers can pay what they want, with all money raised benefiting the Kisses for Kyle Foundation. The nonprofit offers a variety of services to local families fighting childhood cancer.

“We’re so excited to expand into the suburbs, and this is a way of giving the community a preview of what they should expect once we’re up and running,” said Alsaadi.

“We’re borrowing a friend’s food truck, and we’ll be in front of the new shop giving out as many falafel and chicken shawarma wraps as we can produce. And we’re thrilled to raise funds for a fantastic local cause in the process.”

Kisses for Kyle founder Sharon Snyder commented with gratitude: “Omar and his team are so generous to include Kisses for Kyle in this initiative. Before they even open, Mr. Alsaadi has already proven that he will be bringing a lot more than just delicious Middle Eastern cuisine to Yardley.”

Pita Chip’s menu includes scratch-made hummus and sides, salad bowls, rice bowls, and wraps featuring chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, falafel, and roasted vegetables.

More about the new restaurant is online.
