Lighter Crowds at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Leave Elverson Man Crowing About the Experience
Lower attendance at this year’s Pennsylvania Farm Show — which was virtual last year — might have disappointed many retailers and exhibitors. But one attendee, Charles Graydus from Elverson, was pleased with the turnout, according to Jason Nark for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“I like it this way,” said Graydus, 67. “You can walk around and feel comfortable. There’s been years here when you can barely move.”
The Department of Health, which has been offering flu shots at the farm show for several years, decided to add the COVID-19 vaccine to this year’s agrarian activities. Its professionals administered a total of 127 COVID-19 vaccines and 55 flu vaccines over the weekend, one to Graydus. He decided to take the opportunity and get his booster shot because, as a teacher, he spends the majority of his time at work around children.
“It just makes sense to me,” he said.
Other than the slightly lighter turnout and the personal healthcare overlay, the festivities were much like the farm shows of old. Not many people wore masks, but most had their booster and were simply attempting to continue on at somewhere between extreme caution and normalcy.
