In a sea of good drinking establishments in the Philadelphia region, there are those that really stick out. One of them is right here in Bucks County, according to the Philadelphia Magazine best-of list for bars.

John & Peter’s, 96 South Main Street in New Hope, got the publication’s nod. It’s been a go-to local favorite since opening in 1972.

The editors recommended it for the food menu, which includes burgers, tacos, and quesadillas. And they admired the extensive list of libations, such as lagers, IPAs, malt beverages, hard seltzers, and cider.

But one of the biggest draws is the jam-packed rotation of live music.

Local musicians take the stage every night except Mondays and Tuesdays, with Saturday’s coverage often comprising two bands — one at 3 p.m. and one at 9 p.m.

There’s even a small stage where patrons can move to the up-tempo setlist before swaying to the slower stuff.
