Saturday Movie Night: Not to See One; to *Be* in One. Local Filmmaker Needs Extras Tonight in Bethlehem

On the Bethlehem set of local director Danny Roebuck's 'The Hail Mary.'

Just as directors M. Night Shyamalan favors Bucks County and Woody Allen loved the backdrop of Manhattan, local filmmaker Danny Roebuck has a thing for the Lehigh Valley, where he grew up. His latest work, The Hail Mary, a football saga, is currently on location in Bethlehem, reports Alicia Vitarelli for 6abc.

Roebuck was born in Bethlehem. From an early age, he was entranced by movies and television — so much so that his parents gave him a cardboard television for his seventh birthday.

Early gigs included performances as a circus clown, a stand-up comedian, and eventually, an actor. Roebuck had network television roles on NBC’s Matlock, ABC’s Lost, and Fox Television’s Glee.

He eventually transitioned into a director.

The feature he’s currently shooting is a tale of football and faith, using local actors, locations, crew members, and even ordinary locals.

Roebuck has put out a call for extras. Interested locals don’t even need any special skills. The roles require no prior experience, just everyday clothing (jackets, shirts, hats) without corporate logos. It does, however, involve some quick action and some patience.

Roebuck’s casting call is for tonight, August 14, from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Just show up at the Bethlehem Area School District Stadium, 1115 Linden St, Bethlehem.

And that’s a wrap.

More information on the film and Danny Roebuck is on his website; the complete story on the call for extras is at 6abc.
