A study by U.S. News & World Report ranked Doylestown Hospital number six in the Philadelphia Metro Area and number 12 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Its status as one of the best medical providers extended through numerous high-performing procedures and conditions:

  • Aortic valve surgery
  • Back surgery (spinal fusion)
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Colon cancer surgery
  • Heart attack
  • Heart bypass surgery
  • Heart failure
  • Hip fracture
  • Hip replacement
  • Kidney failure
  • Knee replacement
  • Stroke

“Our performance as an independent health system and the high marks we receive for patient safety and experience are the result of continuous efforts and focus on the quality of care delivered to each and every patient,” said Scott Levy, MD, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer.

“It is especially noteworthy,” he continued, “that Doylestown Health successfully maintains quality during the challenges created by the pandemic. The excellence of our Medical Staff, nurses and technicians and all those who provide care to our patients shines through during challenging times.”

In evaluating best medical providers, U.S. News has given its annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings for the past 32 years.

For the 2021-2022 edition, it evaluated more than 4,750 medical centers nationwide in 17 procedures and conditions. Fewer than a third of all hospitals received any high-performing rating. Methodologies are based largely on objective measures that include risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volumes, and quality of nursing care.

Doylestown Hospital was not the only Bucks County entry on the U.S News and World Report list. St. Mary’s Medical Center, Langhorne, was rated number 24.
