Spring-Ford Area High School graduate Conor Larkin has been selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the ninth round of the MLB Draft, writes Owen McCue for The Pottstown Mercury.

Larkin was sitting at his Royersford home with his parents when he received the call he had dreamed of his entire life.

“It was one of those moments where it all happened so fast and I really didn’t have that much time to think,” said Larkin. “It’s funny to look back at it. The emotions really went high very quickly, and it was definitely a surreal moment to enjoy that with my parents, especially being in the room with me.”

During his senior year with the Rams, Larkin was crowned 2017 Mercury All-Area Baseball Player of the Year. He went to play at Penn State, before wrapping up his college career there this past spring.

During his final season at Spring-Ford, he went 7-1 with a 0.80 ERA, including a pair of no-hitters. While playing with the Nittany Lions, he went 9-12 with a 4.26 ERA in 171 innings pitched.

He also struck out 191 batters.
