New Hope, which once rose to prominence for being halfway through a day’s journey from Philadelphia to New York, has stepped out of the shadow of both nearby metropolises to stand on its own as one of Thrillist.com’s Most Exciting Suburbs of 2021. 

The ranking cites a two-for-one excursion point for visitors, who can explore New Hope’s quaintness and charm before wandering over the bridge to Lambertville, NJ and moseying back.

Recommended New Hope experiences include the live performances at Bucks County Playhouse, which is back in operation with limited, safe seating. Art aficionados will want to take in the works at The Creeper Gallery, New Hope Arts and Red Tulip Gallery. Visits are by appointment, so make arrangements before setting out. 

Farm-to-table fans can pick their own produce at Solebury Orchards, which also has, speaking of arrangements, spring flowers.  

For refreshment, Thrillist.com recommends the New Hope Winery and Buckingham Winery. Food stops should include Stella and the GreenHouse. 

If you fall so in love with the place that you want to stay overnight, The River House at Odettes has stunning rooms with Insta-worthy views. Several B&Bs offer family-style settings with plenty of plush. Consider Olivia’s Bridge Street Inn or the super-romantic Inn at Bowman’s Hill. 

New Hope also offers trails that are perfect for hiking, biking or strolling along the Delaware River.
