Central Bucks Regional Police Officer Rhiannon Browne has been awarded the department’s Life Saving Commendation for saving a man’s life in Doylestown, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.
Police Chief Karl Knott presented Officer Browne with the recognition at the April 23 police commission meeting.
On March 28, the department was alerted by Bucks County Radio of a man in cardiac arrest.
Officer Browne arrived on the scene with Sergeant Wayne Jones and Captain Paul Kreuter and found the 45-year-old man unresponsive.
Before the Doylestown Fire Company arrived to begin chest compressions, Officer Browne used a bag valve mask to help the man breathe. Central Bucks EMS arrived shortly after and performed advanced life support.
Thanks to their actions, the patient was able to breathe on his own and survive the sudden cardiac event.
“The immediate care of the victim had a direct impact on the outcome of this incident,” said Chief Knott. “Officer Browne’s quick response, recognition of the severity of the medical emergency, immediate action, and effective CPR resulted directly in saving the life of the patient.”
“A failure in act or action after delay could have led to a tragic outcome,” he added. “The actions of Officer Browne reflect positively on the Central Bucks Regional Police Department and her individually.”
