For many, the prospect of designing and decorating a room can feel overwhelming, trying to determine what should go where and what style best fits the space.
Luckily, Jamison resident Kylie White was able to pair her love for interior design with dollhouse miniatures to create the living room of her dreams.
Since she was a kid, Kylie was fascinated with models, having spent a lot of time with her father in his workshop. Her father, Ralph, is a retired architectural scale model builder whose passion was passed on to his daughter.
In 2022, the father-daughter duo renovated Kylie’s plastic dollhouse, and it quickly became a beloved hobby.
Kylie became the visionary, with her talent for interior design and her eye for style. Her father, using his lengthy career knowledge, became the builder and engineer, designing models and constructing pieces like miniature furniture.
Kylie’s social media accounts, which initially showcased her apartment DIYs and later her home renovations, eventually became dedicated to her miniatures.
After unfortunately losing her home, Kylie used her miniatures to recreate the space, modeling rooms after her old house.

“So it has been just a healing experience for me, and being able to share that with people online and share that story and have it resonate with so many people and just the community that I’ve built from creating this and sharing this, it’s just skyrocketed in a way that I could have never imagined,” she said.
Online, viewers were soon asking if the homemade furniture pieces Kylie used were available for sale, and last year, their Etsy shop was born.
Through their site, miniature builders can find excellently crafted mini kitchen and fireplace sets, along with mini bookshelves and bed frames, crafted by Ralph.
While creating miniatures began as a hobby and a means of bringing her design ideas to life, it recently helped her redesign her living room.
Kylie made a scaled version of her living space and built miniatures of her dream furniture. She then turned to Temu to source all the pieces that fit perfectly.
This method gave Kylie the chance to learn new skills, crafting new tiny furniture pieces, while transforming her living room into her ideal space.
Moving forward, she’s hoping to offer custom houses, working with clients like an interior designer to build the mini home of their dreams. She’s also hoping to post more educational content to help guide those interested through the process of building miniatures and redesigning dollhouses.
“This little hobby has taken us to great heights, and I’m just so happy that I’m able to share my story and my process and now sell some of my designs, and it’s been an awesome experience,” Kylie said.
