In his 32nd game of Jeopardy!, Lawrenceville native Jamie Ding’s long winning streak unfortunately came to an end, writes John Jurgensen for the Wall Street Journal.
With his charming personality and his signature orange shirts, it didn’t take long for Ding to win the hearts of the trivia TV show’s fans.
His 31-game streak placed him at No. 5 in the show’s consecutive win rankings and No. 5 in the highest regular-season winnings, bringing in $882,605. Host Ken Jennings remains No. 1 in both categories, with a streak of 75 and winnings of $2.5 million.
Ding will be returning for the next Tournament of Champions, and in the meantime, he will be continuing his administration work at a New Jersey housing agency.
In a recent interview with the WSJ, Ding noted that he felt a little rusty stepping up to the podium after a 10-day trip home to New Jersey between tapings.
He discussed how he felt fairly even-keeled during every game, never finding himself too overwhelmed. As he continued his winning streak, he was led primarily by his curiosity.
To prepare himself for tapings, Ding would recite “May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you be safe from internal and external harm. May you speak truthfully,” before the camera started rolling, a mantra he learned while training for public speaking.
