AJ Tantala, a 26-year-old teacher at the Samuel Everitt School in Levittown, was recently gifted with a special surprise following a life-changing surgery, reports Krystle Rich for CBS News Philadelphia.
When he was just two years old, Tantala was diagnosed with kidney failure, resulting in countless treatments.
For the last three years, he had been growing increasingly desperate for a transplant and took to putting up billboards across the Delaware Valley seeking a donor.
Tantala, who has a deep love for the Phillies, used their signature font in the billboard design along with a picture of him in his Phillies gear.
Luckily, he was able to find a donor, and the Phillies and CBS News coordinated a special gift for him to celebrate: two tickets to this past Saturday’s game.
“I’m feeling amazing. I’m so grateful for everybody who helped with this… the Phillies, my fiancé, my mom, my school, my amazing staff,” Tantala said.
Tantala’s mother and fiancé helped to coordinate the surprise, which took place last week at the Levittown school.
