At 17, Neshaminy High School junior Kennedi Dobson is already making waves in the world of competitive swimming, writes Drew Markol for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Dobson, a resident of Levittown, has earned her spot in next month’s U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Indianapolis, where she will compete in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle events.
She began swimming at five or six, not out of competitive ambition but to learn how to swim and have fun in the water.
“There wasn’t pressure — I just enjoyed it,” she says.
As she prepares for one of the biggest challenges of her young career, Dobson remains grounded and focused on the joy of the sport. She looks forward to competing against top athletes, including idols like seven-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky.
Beyond the trials, her sights are set on swimming collegiately at the University of Georgia, where she plans to major in sports media.
