Washington Crossing Historic Park will be participating in the Wawa Welcome America Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade in Philadelphia on July 3, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.
The park recently announced that the Fifes and Drums Corps and some of their re-enactors will be making an appearance.
George Washington, portrayed by John Godzieba, will be joined by the 5th Pennsylvania Regiment in the parade. One of the Upper Makefield park’s Durham Boats will also be featured.
Washington Crossing Historic Park is located on the Delaware River at the site of the famous Christmas night river crossing during the American Revolution.
The parade will feature 250 parade elements representing the 50 states and U.S. territories, with 50 marching bands performing.
Attendees will be able to watch cultural showcases, military units, and intricate floats along a route through historic Philadelphia.
The parade begins at 5th & Chestnut Streets, traveling past Independence Hall and down Market Street. The route circles City Hall, moves along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, loops around Logan Circle, and ends at Broad and Chestnut Streets.
“From the past to the present and into the future, this unforgettable parade will honor 250 years of American history,” said the park.
