Former Denny’s in Middletown Slated for Demolition, to Make Way for Taco Bell

The former Denny's in Middletown will be demolished to make way for a Taco Bell drive-thru, following a development process.

A former Denny’s in Middletown is set to be demolished to make way for a new Taco Bell drive-thru, following a lengthy development process that included traffic improvements, writes Lacey Latch for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The property is adjacent to the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad station.

The current building will be replaced with a 2,700-square-foot structure for the new restaurant. Roadway improvements are also planned to ensure local emergency services can respond without delays despite Taco Bell’s expected traffic.

“Everything we are doing is advocating for the community, making sure that our ambulances can respond timely and not have any obstruction,” said Gerry Wydro, a physician and volunteer with the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad.

Widening the driveway exiting the site is among the proposed traffic improvements aimed at creating room for emergency vehicles to pass any cars waiting in line at the eatery as they make their way onto Lincoln Highway.

The proposal also calls for giving the EMS station control of the traffic signal at the intersection, allowing them to exit the site easily when responding to calls.
