Whether you’re looking for a production to enjoy on a rainy day or an acting workshop to help improve your skills, Bucks County is home to several performing arts theaters with a variety of offerings.
Bucks County Playhouse – New Hope
Founded in 1939, the Playhouse offers high-quality theatrical performances, with talented casts, fantastic sets, and spectacular sound. Countless famous figures have graced the stage, including Grace Kelly, Walter Matthau, Angela Lansbury, Dick Van Dyke, Robert Redford, Liza Minnelli, and more.
The world premiere of the musical Starstuck, a new take on the classic play Cyrano de Bergerac, is running until March 21, with more exciting shows coming this year. The organization also hosts a variety of acting workshops and classes for all ages, with information available online.
Bristol Riverside Theatre – Bristol
Started in the 1980s by Founding Director Susan D. Atkinson, BRT has become a fan favorite among locals. Each season consists of five productions and four to eight additional events.
BRT also offers camps like the ArtRageous Summer Camp and Camp Broadway, designed to boost confidence and give kids a chance to shine on stage. Their next production, Jelly’s Last Jam, takes audiences on a journey with the self-proclaimed inventor of jazz, and runs from March 31 to April 26.
Town and Country Players – Buckingham
Though it may be a compact venue built in an 18th-century barn, this nonprofit’s productions pack a lot of talent into a small space. Between six and seven productions are put on each year, while the Summer Theater Youth Workshops give kids the chance to learn about every aspect of theater.
The hit musical Rent will be running from April 17 to May 2. Other fun productions coming this year include It’s Only a Play, Tuck Everlasting, Mean Girls Jr., and more.
ActorsNET of Bucks County – Morrisville
Another small but mighty theater, this Lower Bucks company was founded by Joe and Cheryl Doyle in 1996. ActorsNET has produced more than 200 shows since its opening, ranging from classic comedies to Broadway musicals and Shakespearean dramas.
Tim Frith’s Calendar Girls is running until March 29, followed by Charley’s Aunt in May and Macbeth in June. Their four-week Summer Stars program in August is a great opportunity for kids ages seven to 17 eager to perform.
Founded in 1947 by a group of performers in a home, this critically acclaimed theater delivers high-quality performances with spectacular casts.
The 2026 season kicks off April 17 with Laughter on the 23rd Floor, a hilarious comedy about the dawn of American television. Also playing this year are The Effect; Home, I’m Darling; On the Market; and Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson.
Newtown Arts Company – Newtown
For over four decades, this Newtown nonprofit has told countless stories through its unforgettable productions. The theater also hosts several programs, including the Stars of Tomorrow class, the Classics for Kids program, and the Annual Scholarship Awards.
The hit musical Pippin is running from April 16 to 19, followed by The Laramie Project, Disney’s Descendants, and more.
