Tinicum Guitar Barn in Ottsville will close this spring after more than three decades of buying, selling, and trading used and vintage guitars, amplifiers, and more, writes Ryan Kneller for WFMZ 69 News.
Founded in 1993 by husband-and-wife team Karl and Idarose Huf, the family-owned and operated shop has helped thousands of musicians, from beginners to seasoned professionals, to find the right instruments and gear. Now, the longtime owners are ready to slow down.
It’s been a lot of fun, but I’m not getting any younger,” said Karl. “At this point, I’ve definitely seen enough guitars, and I don’t even really play that much anymore.”
At 71, Karl has spent more than six decades playing guitar and other string instruments, performing with over 20 bands. The building that currently houses the shop was built in 1990, in part to serve as a rehearsal space for one of his groups.
Set to close on April 1, the shop is no longer accepting trades. A closing sale is already in progress, with various discounts available on the remaining inventory.
