Bucks County-based McCaffrey’s Market recently revealed plans to open a new full-service store in Doylestown’s Mercer Square Shopping Center at the current Weis Markets site, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.
Weis Markets, based in Pennsylvania, has operated the location since 2012 after purchasing the Genuardi’s Family Market store from Safeway.
The new McCaffrey’s Market, which will span 51,000 square feet, will open early next year, replacing the 13,000-square-foot Simply Fresh location at 200 West State Street.
According to a story in the supermarket trade publication, Progressive Grocer, Simply Fresh will continue to operate until the new store at 73 Old Dublin Pike opens.
The smaller store, which opened in 2016, offers a selection of high-quality meats, seafood, produce, baked goods, deli offerings, and floral products. Customers can also peruse their selection of chef-created prepared foods.
James McCaffrey IV, the store’s executive vice president, told Progressive Grocer that while they are sad to be leaving the borough, “the larger space allows us to better serve our customers with a full-size market experience.”
McCaffrey’s is based in Middletown Township and opened its first location in 1986 in Lower Makefield.
