Bucks County Castle Featured in List of Most Romantic Estates in America

Fonthill Castle in Doylestown was recently featured on SIXT’s list of the top 20 romantic historic estates in the country, placing at No. 6.

Doylestown’s Fonthill Castle was recently ranked in a list of the top 20 most romantic historic estates in the country by the international car rental company, SIXT, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.

To determine its ranking, SIXT analyzed search volumes on Google and TikTok, and wedding venue availability. Fonthill was placed at No. 6 on the list.

The eclectic Medieval Revival-style castle, built between 1908 and 1912, was the home of historian, tilemaker, and archaeologist Henry Chapman Mercer

Fonthill features winding staircases, soaring towers, and arched windows, decorated throughout with Moravian tiles.

“Fonthill Castle in Doylestown feels tailor made for romance, especially around Valentine’s Day, evoking the dramatic passion of Wuthering Heights and the sweeping, storybook elegance of Bridgerton,” said experts at SIXT, noting that the estate offers “a timeless and intimate setting that continues to captivate couples.”

Tourists and history enthusiasts have drawn a great deal of attention to the Bucks County castle, along with couples looking for a romantic wedding spot.

Also featured on the list were Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina; Glensheen Mansion in Duluth, Minnesota; and Iolani Palace in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Fonthill had over 176,000 searches on Google, as well as increasing interest on TikTok.
