After a five-year collegiate career spanning three schools and two competitive levels, Levittown’s David Blay now hopes to continue in the NFL, writes Devin Jackson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Harry S. Truman High School graduate took a winding path through college football.
After starting at Division II West Chester, he then moved on to Louisiana Tech, before closing the past season with national runner-up Miami.
As a defensive lineman, he learned important lessons at each stage, including during his first years at West Chester and Louisiana Tech, when opportunities on the field were scarce.
The 6-foot-2, 302-pound Blay joined Miami with 95 tackles and 11 and a half sacks to his name, settling into a consistent rotational role on the D-line during his final college team’s playoff run. He points to discipline as the foundation that refined his game and secured his place on the field at the Power Four level.
“In terms of getting on the field and playing, I just really had to be real technically sound,” he said.
Now, he is aiming to continue his career in the NFL, where a chance to play for the Philadelphia Eagles would be “a dream scenario.”
