Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center in Chalfont has been taking care of local animals in need since its founding, rehabilitating around 5,000 animals a year, reports Bob Kelly for FOX 29 Philadelphia.
Injured animals, like rabbits, squirrels, birds, and reptiles, are brought in by the public to receive the help they need so they can be released back into the wild.
The nonprofit’s education center features a variety of animals that visitors can interact with, including salamanders, a rabbit, guinea pigs, newts, a pigeon, turtles, and a parrot.
Non-releasable animals like Reaper, a black vulture that broke its wing as a baby, find their new home at the center, where they receive the best care.
This year, for Valentine’s Day, Aark is hosting a special Dinner for One fundraising event. Donors can name a mealworm, cockroach, or veggie after an ex, which will then be fed to one of the animals.
According to the center’s website, donations range from $5 to $20, and participants will receive a digital card and a video of their bug or veggie being fed to an animal.
