Bucks County Native Colette Sexton Wins National Cyclo-Cross Championship

Colette Sexton, a Bucks County native and current Lambertville resident, achieved her dream of winning the national cyclo-cross championship.

Bucks County native and now resident of Lambertville, Colette Sexton, recently won the 2025 national cyclo-cross championship for women between the ages of 55 and 59, writes Jess Rohan for the Bucks County Courier Times.

According to USA Cycling, cyclo-cross, a sport that became popular in France, is a form of road biking blending mountain biking and steeplechase elements.

Races are shorter, and participants use bikes with knobby tires, crossing a variety of terrains. Bikers must dismount and carry their bikes at different points throughout the race.

Sexton discovered the sport in 2017 and began competing at the national level the following year.

Along with her passion for cyclo-cross, she is also a talented painter.

Sexton trains throughout the week, biking the canal path, along the Delaware River, and on the mountain bike trail at Neshaminy State Park

She usually rides for one to two hours on weekdays and on weekends, rides for two to four hours. She frequently bikes with her 13-year-old daughter, Kendal, who shares her mother’s love for the sport.

Looking ahead, Sexton plans to begin coaching cyclo-cross for kids in Central New Jersey and may be back next year to defend her title.
