With a Giant in Place, the Shoppes at Concord in Glen Mills Can be Built

A Giant store will anchor the proposed Shoppes at Concord in Glen Mills, clearing the way for construction to start in 2026.

Giant will be the anchor for the Shoppes at Concord, a planned 155,000 square-foot shopping center in Glen Mills, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

With an anchor in place, Retail Sites can go ahead with the shopping center construction, expected to start in 2026 after years of delay.  Construction should take between 18 to 24 months.

The developer has leases or letters of intent for 74 percent of the project, according to CEO Robert Hill.

The Giant will use 53,000 square feet of the 25.2-acre plot at the corner of Route 202 and Ridge Road in Concord Township.

Other tenants include an LA Fitness Club Studio, Discount Tire’s America’s Tire Brand, and a Flagship Carwash.

There is also a letter of intent from an as-yet-unnamed regional dining chain for breakfast and lunch offerings.

Retail Sites acquired the land for the center from developer Pettinaro Co., which had approval to build a 190,000 square-foot shopping center there in 2008, reduced to 165,000 square feet at the time Retail Sites acquired the property.

Development never started because of traffic concerns. Hill said Retail Sites is working with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on that issue.
