Jerry Cable, an artist from Bucks County, recently released his artist edition Christmas card for this year, titled “Fetching the Christmas Pine,” writes Jeff Werner for Patch.
Each year, Cable finds inspiration for his cards from locations and subjects across the county.
This year’s design features a festive depiction of the Erwinna Covered Bridge in Tinicum Township.
The bridge, constructed in 1832, is named after Colonel Arthur Erwin, who was a member of the county’s militia.
“When deciding on this year’s image, I wanted the card to be uplifting as well as patriotic, so I included the American flag displayed on the actual bridge,” Cable said. “With Christmas right around the corner, I hope my card will resonate with you as we all search for the light at the end of the tunnel – or covered bridge – this holiday season.”
The card also features a horse-drawn bobsled belonging to Lambertville’s Howell Farm in New Jersey.
Cable has been a painter for more than 55 years and began making Christmas cards when he was a kid.
“Many customers have been collecting my cards for more than 20 years and I receive card orders from across the country,” he said.
