Fallen Heroes Wreath Placed at Grave of Newtown Borough Police Officer

A Fallen Heroes Wreath was recently laid at the grave of Newtown Borough Police Department Officer Brian Gregg, who died in the line of duty.

This past weekend, members of Newtown Borough’s Police Department gathered at the grave of Officer Brian Gregg to lay a Fallen Heroes Wreath, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.

The Fallen Heroes Wreath program was started by the family of John Pawlowski, a Philadelphia police officer who was killed in the line of duty.

Across 20 states, hundreds of volunteers placed wreaths at the graves of over 2,000 heroes.

“This solemn event is a poignant reminder of the bravery and selflessness of our fallen heroes and we invite the community to stop by and pay respects to their memory,” said the Newtown Borough Police Department prior to the ceremony.

Officer Gregg was born in Bristol and raised in Levittown. He had just begun his career as a full-time officer when he was tragically shot and killed on Sept. 29, 2005.

Prior to joining the police force, he worked as a contractor for 15 years, owning his own business.

He graduated from the Temple University Police Academy in 2002 and began as a part-time officer in 2003.

“Brian truly loved his community and he was proud to serve the town of Newtown,” his obituary said. “He never hesitated to answer the call to duty or to help others.”
