The Raven’s Nest, a cherished Quakertown fixture for nearly forty years, welcomed its final patrons on Nov. 2 before closing permanently, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Owner Albert Pray announced the closure on the establishment’s Facebook page three days prior.
“I would like to extend to you our thanks for all the years that everyone made the (bar) what it is today,” he wrote.
He added that the historic tavern on Old Bethlehem Road now has new owners who plan to renovate the space.
“They intend to open the tavern and possibly continue with the music, food, beer, and cheers,” he added.
Pray purchased the tavern in 1987 and moved his family into the four-bedroom apartment on the second floor. He named it The Raven’s Nest in honor of his daughter.
The tavern quickly became known as a blues hotspot, featuring live performances by local musicians and its house band, as well as a welcoming space for friends to gather and unwind.
