Frederick’s Flowers in Hilltown, the cut flowers business that has been around for more than 90 years, will close its doors for good.

Frederick’s Flowers in Hilltown, the cut flowers and greenhouse business that has been a mainstay for more than nine decades, will close its doors for good this month, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Greg Muse, whose family has been running the shop since 1965, said the decision to close was not easy. However, an opportunity appeared that his family could not turn down.

“It’s been getting tougher and tougher to do business as a small business,” he said. “And it’s one of those things where if you see a golden handshake coming, you ask yourself, ‘Am I ever going to get an offer this good again?’”

The store’s last retail day will be November 18, but deliveries will continue throughout the day before Thanksgiving, making November 22 the last official day for the business.

The shop is being acquired by St. Luke’s University Health Network. Its new owner plans to demolish the existing building and build a new, two-story medical office building with parking in its place.
