With 350 Years Under Its Belt, King George II Inn in Bristol Holds Rich History

Bristol's King George II Inn, the oldest bar in PA and oldest continuously operating inn in the country, is nearly 350 years old.

King George II Inn in Bristol, the oldest bar in Pennsylvania and the longest and oldest continuously operating inn in the United States, has been in business for nearly 350 years, writes Sarah Lintakoon for the Chowhound.

The establishment first opened its doors in 1681, the same year that Pennsylvania became a U.S. territory. It stands as a perfect crossroads between the Keystone State’s thriving foodie scene and its rich history.

Over the years, it has hosted the first U.S. president, George Washington, and even played a role in the Revolutionary War as a headquarters for General Cadwalader and his troops. There are even tales of soldiers shooting down the inn’s sign during the Revolutionary War.

Today, in addition to drinks, dining, and lodging, guests can enjoy banquet meals, kids’ meals, and even Thanksgiving specials.

The inn features five dining rooms and a riverfront patio, offering quality drinks and dishes that pair perfectly – a legacy that has thrived since its opening.
