Check Out These Historic Inns and Taverns Around Bucks County

Bucks County is home to many Revolutionary War-era inns and taverns, with delicious restaurants and bars, and rooms available for rent.

An assortment of historic inns and taverns can be found all across Bucks County, dating back to the Revolutionary War, featuring rich histories and delicious food, writes Kaitlin Nasevich for Visit Bucks County.  

Bristol’s King George II Inn is known as the oldest continuously operating inn in the country, established back in 1681. The space boasts an impressive tavern and full-service restaurant.  

The Logan Inn, located in New Hope, was founded in 1727 and hosted a variety of guests during the Revolution. The inn has since been restored and features a restaurant, hotel and bar.  

Yardley’s Continental Tavern is widely thought to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad. The tavern has a variety of artifacts from the Revolutionary era and includes a reputed trapdoor. Visitors can take tours of the tavern’s underground cellar.  

Established in 1751, the Plumsteadville Inn acted as a coaching inn, serving travelers and the militia. This historic Plumstead spot today acts as a tavern, inn and restaurant.  

The Temperance House in Newtown features a restaurant and inn. The building was constructed by Revolutionary War veteran Robert Smith in 1722.  

Pipersville’s Historic Piper Tavern has its origins back in the mid-1700s. The building, including its restaurant and bar, still possesses its colonial architecture and cozy fireplaces.
