Why Did Jordan Brand Choose Philadelphia for First World of Flight Store in the U.S.?

Philadelphia is now home to the first and only Jordan Brand World of Flight store in the U.S., and Jordan Brand general manager of North America Jeremy Bolds detailed why.

Earlier this month, Philadelphia joined Beijing, Milan, Seoul, and Tokyo as the only cities with a Jordan Brand World of Flight location, writes Ian Servantes for WWD.

Each of the global cities are among the most shoppable in the world, and Jordan Brand is speaking out on why it chose Philadelphia as the first U.S. city to have one of these stores.

For starters, Michael Jordan’s final NBA game was played in Philadelphia against the 76ers. Furthermore, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has developed into one of the most prominent and recognizable faces of the Jordan Brand.

It also doesn’t hurt that the brand’s Wings scholarship program launched in 2015 with Philly students.

“You take that combination of purpose, passion for sport, passion for community, and our intersection of sport times culture, it couldn’t be a better fit,” Jeremy Bolds, Jordan Brand general manager of North America, told Footwear News during a preview of the store Thursday evening.

“Their passion for sport, community and culture sits very well with Jordan Brand, and this store gives us the opportunity to show pinnacle retail, to offer curated collections and storytelling that you really don’t get to see from other distribution points,” he continued.
