Nestled in the heart of town, the Inn at Swarthmore welcomes visitors with craft cocktails and inventive dining in a dog-friendly environment, writes Anne E. Hill for the Main Line Today.

The boutique hotel’s Broad Table Tavern, which opened in 2016, introduced the town’s first venue serving alcohol and ended a long-standing dry period.

In addition to its signature restaurant, the hotel features 40 spacious guestrooms and suites, private dining, and flexible meeting spaces, all open to guests’ furry friends.

Serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner under the expert guidance of head chef Nuwan Karunarathna, the Broad Table Tavern features a seasonal menu that changes four times a year and relies on local produce. The inn’s herbs and vegetables, grown in raised beds and tended by Swarthmore College students, are used by the chef in his dishes.

Highlights include flash-fried calamari with lemon saffron aioli and sweet chili sauce and the black angus ribeye with sweet potato puree, grilled broccolini, roasted carrots, and bordelaise sauce.

Standout cocktails include Swarthmorita, a classic margarita with a red wine floater, and Garnet Sangria, a mix of red wine, brandy, blood orange juice, and club soda.
