Holy Ghost Prep, an all-boys private school in Bensalem, will join the Philadelphia Catholic League in the 2026-27 school year to become its 18th member, writes Isabella DiAmore for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“The Philadelphia Catholic League is excited to welcome Holy Ghost Prep as a new member of the PCL,” Brian King, chair of the Catholic League and president of Father Judge. “This was a transparent and deliberate process that encompassed the full PCL membership.”
The PCL’s board of governors voted to accept the school as the league’s latest member, following its rejected application in 2018. No reason was provided for the rejection seven years ago.
Holy Ghost Prep is a PIAA member and sponsors 12 varsity sports, including baseball, basketball, bowling, cross-country, golf, indoor track and field, lacrosse, outdoor track and field, soccer, swimming, tennis, and volleyball. Each of the twelve teams will compete in the PCL.
The school also has ice hockey, rowing and ultimate frisbee teams, which are not PIAA sports, but they will compete against some PCL teams.
The Bensalem school played in the Bicentennial Athletic League for over 40 years until it left in 2020.
